After a bunch of digging, riser cables still can't be used on pcie 4.0 slots since the trace length/impedance is limited/throws off timing on pcie4.0 this will cause random hardware failures/ crashes. Random app crashes and weird errors also.

Which pcie slot for gpu x570. Sorry for some wall of text, but it needs context. I have a pcie 16x card i want to install but my triple slot gpu is covering the slot. 4 lanes go to the first m2 slot x570 has 16 lanes of pcie gen4 4 lanes go to the third x16 slot 4 lanes go to the second m2 slot that appears to be how this board is wired.
If the second slot is occupied then the top two slots share the 16 lanes and each of them become x8 slots. I have a ryzen 7 3700x, msi mog x570 gaming edge wifi mobo, and an rtx 2070 super. 2 x pcie 4.0 x16, either in x16 modus or when used both in x8 modus 3 x pcie 4.0 x1 1 x pcie 4.0 x16 operating in x4.
I see that the second pciex16 is also 4.0. So if you put any pci card at pcie_03 slot even if that card is using just 1x lane, you must to configure your motherboard to be 8x8 at least on pcie_01 and pcie_03. If not, if your creative sound blaster is not a pciex16 card install it on a pciex1 3.0 slot.
I tried swapping the cards, and the gpu starts up fine in slot 3. Boards can be wired differently. The second slot can only operate at x8.
I have a geforce gtx 1650 in my pcie 1 slot, and i was attempting to get the usb c pcie card in slot 3, but i get a vga debug led. Asus recently added the ability the the tuf x570 wifi (last few bios updates) to chance the slot to pcie3.0 on a slot to slot basis. If you run two gpu's then both slots will run at x8.
The board only has 2 pcie x16 slots. At least 4 of the x570’s lanes are converted to sata lanes, so in total, a ryzen 9. The software is free to download.
The slot you highlighted is a pcie x1 and i don't think any x1 gpu. I've reasons to believe that i might have a defective motherboard (pcie issues). I started seeing issues with hardware accelerated applications right after installing windows.

I am looking to buy a second gpu for 3d rendering (blender) and other graphic work. If the top pcie slot is the only one occupied then it will get all 16 lanes. Look in your motherboard's bios for a setting to set the pcie 4.0 to pcie 3.0 lane.
Check to see if bios has a setting for this lane also. In the unlikely scenario that you’re running at pcie 3.0 x8 on an x570 or b550 motherboard, there is a performance hit, particularly to the 1% low. The cheaper boards, like my x570 tuf, put all 16 of the remaining cpu lanes into the main pcie slot.
Is it ok for me to move it down a slot? I will game on it but would only be using one of the cards for this, as i know this board does not support sli nor do most games as well as mixed cards being a bad idea for this. I have an x570 gaming plus with an amd ryzen 5 3600.
The other big pcie slot is given 4 lanes from the chipset (meaning, the cpu has 4 lanes to the chipset, and the chipset has a hub/switch that has ~20 lanes, of which 4 are allocated to that other pcie slot). There are 16 lanes connected directly to the cpu for gpu's. The x570 chipset has 20 pcie lanes (4 of which are used to connect to the cpu. The ryzen 9 5950x has 24 pcie lanes (4 of which are used to connect to the chipset).

Yeah the x570 godlike has the spacing but it doesn't have an extra 6 pin for quad gpus if you wanted to run 4, the power going through the pcie slot could overload the 24 pin connector clearly op isn't going to be running quad gpu's, with 2 triple slot's.
